Gifted and Talented Education

Gifted students are those students whose abilities, talents and potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special provisions to meet their educational programming needs.

Hayden School District is committed to the educational advancement of all students. The district will provide gifted and talented education for identified exceptional students according to the goals set forth in the students’ Advanced Learning Plans.

All students are tested at the end of second grade. However, this screening is only one of several indicators that might initiate the identification process for eligibility to receive gifted and talented services. Students might also be identified through teacher referral, parent referral, or scores on regularly given school assessments. After referral, a body of evidence including teacher and parent input as well as assessment outcomes will be considered before identifying a student for an Advanced Learning Plan.
